Odell Pepper, 78 of Taft died Friday (May 12, 1989) in Lincoln Care Center following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Ellenburg and the Rev. Otha Acuff officiating. Burial followed in the Blanche Cemetery beside her late husband, J.C. Pepper who died in 1986. A native of Madison County, Ala. she was the daughter if the late John and Ella Mae Bobo Baker and a member of the Taft Church of Christ.

She is survived by three sons: John Clayton Pepper of Nashville; James Thurman Pepper of Birmingham, Ala.; and Bobby Ray Pepper of Taft; three sisters: Goldie Finley of Huntsville; Sylvia Trentham of Hazel Green, Ala.; and Gladys Slayton of Fayetteville, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
