T. L. Acker died at his home northwest of Russell at midnight Wednesday night. He had been sick for several weeks with pneumonia during which period other complications set in. He made a hard struggle to live but was unable to shake off his ailments. The funeral service is being held today from the Baptist church in this city. Thomas Alonzo Acker was born at Springport, Indiana, November 6, 1864, and died April 28, 1909, aged 45 years, 1 month and 22 days. He moved to Bates county, Missouri in 1882. There he was married November 28, 1889, to Miss Martha L. Lamon, who survives him. They have two children, Joseph Newton and Franklin DeEster. A brother, Willard Acker, lives at Lowry, Missouri. He came to this county in 1899 and has been noted for his industry and untiring energy in an effort to get ahead in the world. His efforts were being rewarded and a few more years of good health would have enabled him to get into independent financial condition. Those who knew him best have many kind words to say for him and his straightforwardness and honesty are freely commended. The family has the sincere sympathy of neighbors and friends without number in their bereavement.

His middle initial changes from document to document. It has been A., E., L. In this obituary it has "L," which is also on his stone. Since it's actually "Alonzo," many may have just said "Lonzo," and that became the initial.
