"John D. "Jack" Witwer, 52, of 215 N. 20th St., assistant to the vice president in charge of production at the Phillips-Jones Corp. died Tuesday at 3:50 p.m. in Pottsville Hospital. In ill health for a long time, he was admitted to the hospital April 19.
Born in Mohnton, near Reading, he was a son of Harry H. and the late Katie Griffiths Witwer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Men's Class, Men's Brotherhood and Pottsville Lions.
Surviving are his wife,, the former Marion Buskirk; two children: Patricia, wife of William Adams; and Elizabeth, both of Pottsville; his father; and two brothers: Paul and Herman, both of Reading; also one granddaughter.
Funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Sterner Funeral Home, 917 W. Market St. with interment in Schuykill Memorial Park. The Rev. Maynard C. Hallock, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate."
