Floyd Allen Gardner, 60
Floyd Allen Gardner, 60, of 1610 Tennant St., was killed and his wife, Hesther, 50, and another passenger were injured in a collision over the week-end at Highway 99 and Dwight Way, about three miles south of Livingston.
The California Highway Patrol said Gardner's northbound car collided with a station wagon driven by Juan Cervantes Del Toro, of Livingston whose vehicle was eastbound on Dwight Way.
The CHP said Del Toro's station wagon started to stall as it was crossing the northbound lanes of Highway 99.
Mrs. Gardner suffered possible fractured ribs. The other passenger, Stanley Odom, 18, of Oklahoma, suffered a knee injury. Both were taken to the Merced Community Medical Center.
Toro suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
Gardner, a native of Arkansas and long time resident of Corcoran, had been a custodian with the Corcoran School District for 22 years.
Gardner is survived by his wife; three sons, Darrell of Fresno, Artie of Norco, Ca. and Orville with the US Air Force; five daughters, Sandra Bristo of Corcoran, Louise Williamson of Midland, Texas, Arlene Odom of Tishminga, Okla., Loretta Lane of Manteca, Ca., and Lorena Horn of Eagle Mountain, Ca., 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Dessie Davis of Roselawn, Ind. and Retta Morgan of Vinetta, Okla.; and one brother, George of Earp, Ca.
