She was reared and educated in her birth community; following her education she and Robert Jackson Floyd were united in marriage. Together they were blessed with five children. They made their home in Pryor and Little Kansas.
In 1976 Arvella moved to Claremore and it is here that she married John Patrick Willis and they made their home in the Foyil area. Arvella lived in Broken Arrow for a time and while there she was employed at a nursing home, working as a nurse's aide. Later she worked at Dot's Café in Claremore for about three years.

When Arvella wasn't busy working, she enjoyed spending time with her children and her treasured grandchildren. Those shopping sprees to Wal-Mart and trips site seeing were also favorites of hers. Arvella loved to read and spend time in her flower garden. The holidays were times she truly enjoyed, with family and friends.
