GARY WAYNE ADKINS, 50 years of age of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at his home. Born in Tazewell County, VA, he was the son of Mavis Jean Ward Adkins of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, VA and the late Donald Adkins, Sr. He was a resident of Buchanan County all of his life and was a graduate of Grundy High School. He was of the Christian faith and was a former custodian for the Buchanan County School System.
Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his father: Donald Adkins, Sr.
Mr. Adkins is survived by his wife, Lisa Bailey Adkins and his mother Mavis Jean Ward Adkins. -1 Daughter: Shonna Nichole and husband Justin Hutchinson, Hurley, Va., -2 Sisters: Tammie Ann and husband Louis Hash, Chilhowie, Va., Donna Jean and husband Barry Viers, Haysi, Va., -1 Brother: Donald "Donnie" Adkins, Jr., Grundy, Va.
Mr. Adkins is also survived by -4 nieces: Amber Buchanan, Chasity Matney, Kristina Matney, Michelle Bailey and -6 nephews: Sean Buchanan, Ron Keith Adkins, Ronald (Bubby) Matney, Jr. Justin Stiltner, Mac Bailey and Chris Bailey.
Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by -1 infant son: John Michael Adkins.
