Edna M. Byrd, 83, died March 16, 2000. Born in Jellico, Ky., September 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mallie Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded also in death by her husband, Kelly Byrd; and two brothers, Walter and William Hughes.

She managed the Planter's Peanut Store in downtown Dayton for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Chambers of Dayton; one granddaughter, one sister, Nell Parrott of Lake Station, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Hughes of Kingston, and Gilberta Hughes of Jacksboro; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 19, 2000, at the George C. Martin Funeral Home Northridge Chapel. Graveside service was conducted at Fairview Cemetery.
