Mr. Asbury was born May 28, 1924, at Dawes and grew up in Boone County. He attended Sherman High School and was a World War II Army veteran serving in Europe.
His wife of 46 years, Olive F. Asbury and ten brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by brother, Robert Asbury of Colorado; son, James Asbury Jr. and wife, Sally, of Chester, Va.; daughters, Darlene Miley of Belle, Marsha Condee and husband, David, of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Dr. Tim Miley and wife, Melissa, of Raleigh, N.C. Dr. Melanie Winnings and husband, Keith, of Belle, Michelle Starcher and husband, John, of Woodbridge, Va. and Dr. Evan Condee of Cross Lanes; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Hunter Winnings, Braydon and Kian Miley and Matthew Starcher; and special friend, Betty June Weikle of Whitesville.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Stevens and Grass Funeral Home, 4203 Salines Drive, Malden, with the Rev. Charlie Bolin officiating. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
