Mrs. Ruth L. Mackie, 68, 118 Overhill Road, whose joint educational interests with her late husband included Kansas Wesleyan university and Brown-Mackie School of Business, Inc., died Saturday at Asbury hospital after several months' illness.
She was born June 10, 1900, at Jacksonville, Ohio. She was graduated from Ohio university and did additional work at Ohio State university.
She was married on June 15, 1920, to A. B. Mackie, while he was teaching high school at Athens, Ohio.
In 1921, Mr. and Mrs. Mackie moved to Salina to join the KWU faculty. He was the coach and she taught for 15 years. Later, the Mackies were co-owners for 25 years of the Brown-Mackie school. Mr. Mackie died June 5, 1966.
Mrs. Mackie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Twentieth Century club.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Cuyler Law, Pittsburgh, Pa., and John Law, Athens, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Brewer, Columbus, Ohio.
