Mr. Sirmon died May 24 at Bay Villa Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 20, 1911 in Markham to the late Richard Thomas and Maude Hardee Sirmon. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a lifelong resident of the Bay City area, and a rice farmer and rancher.
Mr. Sirmon is survived by his wife, Thelma Sansing Sirmon of Bay City; daughter and son-in-law, Thelma Jean and Lang Parma of Lake Jackson; granddaughter, Patti Phillips and husband Cliff; great grandson Clayton Phillips all of Lake Jackson; two sisters, Ethel Holsworth of Collegeport and Inez Chapman of Magee, Ark.; sister-in-law, Ben Eddie Sirmon of New Braunfels; and devoted friend Merlene Moore, who sat with Mr. Sirmon for 11 years.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Ashcraft, John Ashcraft, Mason Holsworth, Thomas Holsworth, James Sansing, and Donald Northcutt. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. The Daily Tribune May 27, 1999
