The October 23, 1946 Arizona Daily Sun (Flagstaff, Arizona) reported that Walter Bean died at the Navajo Ordinance Depot from a heart attack. His widow, Lila Bean, accompanied the body to Dayton Ohio for a military funeral service. Per the Arizona Daily Sun, Mr Bean was born in Dayton. His survivors included his mother, Mrs. E.J. Bean, and a sister, Mrs. Bert Duhner.
