Alexander McPhail, age 93, of Topeka, passed away Monday evening, February 13, 2012 at Winter Meadows Homes in Topeka. He was born April 14, 1918 in Scranton, KS the son of William McPhail and Effie MacIntosh McPhail.

He married Thelma L. Williams November 15, 1946 in Topeka. She preceded him in death March 30, 2010.

He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He worked at the North Topeka Annex as a Postal Clerk.

He was a faithful charter member of the Grace Baptist Church for over 57 years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Saundra McPhail.

He is survived by two sons, David (Alice) McPhail of Chapman and Randy (Theresa) McPhail of Topeka; two daughters, Sharon (Richard) Haynes of Topeka and Janice (Jimmie Cooper) McPhail of Mesa, AZ; a sister, Ann Rowe of Scranton; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Penwell Gable Memorial Park Cemetery. He will lie in state Friday from 4:00 8:00 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church, 1110 NE Michigan, with a visitation from 6:00 8:00 p.m. also at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
