Guy J. Davenport, 83, of Iowa Park died Monday, February 13, 2012 at his home. A graveside service has been scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Garden of Compassion at Crestview Memorial Park officiated by Reverend Kevin Tiaden of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Guy was born September 18, 1928 in Milton, TN to Charlie Ellis and Samanthia Travis Davenport. He served our country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. He married Ella Mae Meyer and together they raised four children. Guy retired from Sprague Electric as an electrician after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Iowa Park. He was an avid reader and a big sports fan.
Mr. Davenport is preceded in death by his son, James Edward Davenport; parents, Charlie and Samanthia Davenport; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ella Davenport; two daughters, Cynthia Small of Mansfield, TX, Janise Rouell of Killeen, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janie Davenport of Iowa Park; sisters, Mildred Reed of Readyville, TN, Odie Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
