Katherine Josephine Cagle was the third and last child of Benjamin Jackson Cagle and Eugenia Key. She was a Registered Nurse Instructor, never married, and enjoyed researching her genealogy and family history. She wrote and published three books:

1. "Our" Cagle-Hill Families by Katherine Josephine Cagle. Little Rock, AR: K. J. Cagle, 1982. This book was about her fraternal grandparents, Alexander Cagle and Josephine Hill.

2. "Our" Key-Simpson Families by Katherine Josephine Cagle. Little Rock, AR: K. J. Cagle, 1982. This book was about her maternal grandparents, John Welborn Key and Katherine Keith Simpson.

3. Kerosene Lamps and Marigolds : Story of the Ben J. Cagle Family, 1895-1982 by Katherine Josephine Cagle. [S.l.]: K.J. Cagle, 1983. This book was about her father, Benjamin Jackson Cagle.
