Philanthropist Dies in La Jolla SAN DIEGO, Dec. 17. UP) Mrs. Sarah E. Beckwith, 90 years of age, widow of a Civil War captain, and famed In the Midwest in her own right a business woman and Philanthropist, died today at the home she established two years ago in La Jolla. Her husband was Capt. Warren Beckwith of the Union army. Their home was in Iowa. After his death she moved to Aurora, Ill, in 1909, and directed the business of the Western Wheeled Scraper Company. Sponsoring the education of many young people was her hobby.
