Harry Bryan Adams began his newspaper career in 1905 at Tolar, Texas. He published the Tolar Standard for one year. In 1906, he went to Graham where he published the Young County News. In 1907, he went to Hamlin where he published the Hamlin Herald. In 1910, he moved to Sweetwater where he published the Sweetwater Signal. After two years in Sweetwater, his brother persuaded him to go to Plainview, Texas. The two brothers published the Plainview News successfully for 11 years. The two brothers sold their business and moved to Lockney. Mr. Adams began publishing the Lockney Beacon for nine years. He sold the paper and moved to Lubbock where he bought the Lubbock County Herald.

Harry Adams married Miss Zola Blankenship on 7 August 1910 in Ranger, Texas. They were the parents of two children - Douglas Surrey Adams, Milton Clem Adams.
