PASSED PEACEFULLY AWAY AT SENECA, SC. HE WAS AN EXCELLENT MAN. Bounty Land, SC - Oct. 17, 1910 - Special: The sad death of Stephen P. Barron, which orrurred at the home of his son, J. M. Barron, at Seneca, SC, on Friday, Oct. 14, 1910 at 6 o'clock p.m. and was a source of much regret to the people of this community. Mr. Barron was enjoying his usual good health until sometime over two weeks ago, when he accidentally cut his hand with a piece of wire. The cut at first seemed not at all serious, but in a few days resulted in blood-poisoning, which caused his death. He was taken to Goldsmith's Sanitarium, Atlanta, GA, for special treatment, but to no avail. A few days before his death, realizing the hopelessness of his condition, he expressed a deisire to come home to die, his lips venting the innermost longings of his soul and a saying of faith in the Redeemer, in the beautiful Hymn. "Jesus, lover of my soul", Mr. Barron was 67 years of age, the date of his birth being April 12, 1843. He did gallant service in the Civil War. He leaves two sisters: Mrs. Mary Hunnicutt,of Anderson, SC, and Mrs. Nannie Moore, of Easley, SC; three sons, and one daughter, namely: J. M., W.H., Joe, and Miss Bettie Barron. His wife, a son Isaaac and a daughter, Mrs. Alice Knox, predeceased him several years. His remains were interred on Saturday, Oct. 15, 1910 at 4 p.m. in the Cemetery at Fairview, where a large number of friends had gathered to pay a last tribute to our esteemed friend and worthy citizen. Rev. M. R. Kirkpatrick conducted funeral services. The sympathy of many friends was extended to the bereaved ones at this sad aflliction.
