Mr. Johnson was married to Pat Johnson for 40 years. He was a son of Mary Frances and Frank Brown and the late John D. Johnson.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson was employed by Norfolk Southern Railway for 30 years.
"He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was his sons and his grandchildren," his family noted.
In addition to his wife, mother, and stepfather, survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Tim and Deena Johnson, Lynn Johnson and Nicole Jones, and Craig Johnson; his grandchildren: Victoria Blane Johnson, Kristen Ciara Johnson, Maggie Leann Johnson, Samantha Johnson, and Tyler Justin Cannon; a sister: Diane Fannon of Rogersville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Keith and Debbie Johnson and Jeff and Rhonda Johnson; two stepsisters: Teresa Martinez of Washington state and Robin Santi of Florida; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carl and Janie Gray, Junior and Cindy Hoke, Kenneth and Helen Rednour, and Robert Lee Rednour; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today and Wednesday at Kiser Rose Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church with interment to follow at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Wayland Fillers, the Rev. Rocky Johnson and the Rev. Paul Garritt will officiate.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Haskell Babb, Ray Babb, Ken Babb, Bobby Babb, Carroll Smith, Rex Smith, Mark Smith and Hugh King.
