A Celebration of life for Mary Jo Ashworth Burnett, 92, of Canton, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday November 19, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Canton with Dr. Ron Cook & Rev. Don Childress officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton, TX.

She passed away November 15, 2009 in Tyler, TX.

Mrs. Burnett was born June 12, 1917 in Wills Point, TX, to Charles Wesley and Amanda Mae Norman Ashworth.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton where she attended for 90 years. She was active in teaching Sunday School, worked with GA's and WMU. She was a former member of the FCE Cub for 46 years. She was Homemaker of the year in 1996. Mary Jo was a former member of the Creative 12 for many years & a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She worked at the Cotton Office for several years during WWII. She volunteered with the Red Cross and attended one year of college at the Texas Women's University before being courted by and marrying J. W. Burnett on April 3, 1937. They were married for 62 years. She was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, J. W. Burnett, 7 Brothers, Alton, Guy, John Mac, C. W. , Jack, Wilson & Joe Gee Ashworth, 3 Sisters, Arlou Rogers, Beola Chew, Hazel Sides.
