GAYS MILLS, Wl - Mrs. Stella Quamme age 84, of Gays Mills, died Thursday, July 9, 1981 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital at Viroqua. She was born Oct. 4, 1896 to Andrew and Rachel Thompson Kvigne. She was married to Helmer Quamme Oct. 27, 1915. He preceded her in death March 31, 1969. She lived in the Mt. Sterling area most of her life and they farmed until 1955 and after that lived in Middleton and Gays Mills. Mrs. Quamme was a charter member of the Mt. Sterling Lutheran ALCW and belonged to the Rebecca Circle. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Lavonne) Walsh of Boscobel and Mrs. Norm (Barbara) Herro of Madison; three sons, Milfred Quamme of Mt. Sterling, Arnold of Holcomb and Herbert of LaCrosse; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Harott (Helen) Clinsmith, Mrs. Eunice Aspenson and Mrs. Mabel Kvigne all of LaCrosse; two brothers, Tillman of Racine, Otto Kvigne of Gays Mills. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Utica Lutheran Church. Pastor Roger Hjelle will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Sat. from 5 to 9 at the BEEMAN FUNERAL HOME in Gays Mills where there will be a prayer service at 8 p.m.
