Mr. Edwards was the son of Emory Asbury and Azalee (Ashworth) Edwards.

He married Susie White July 25, 1959 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Together they had one son.

Obituary:
The Reverend Raymond Foster Edwards, a resident of Fairhope, Al. and a member of the presbytery of South Alabama, died at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, on Monday, December 12, after a lengthy illness. He was the pastor of Loyd Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, for 22 years.

The Rev. Mr. Edwards was a native of Elberton, Ga. The son of Emory Asbury Edwards and Ann Azalee Edwards, he was born October 10, 1931.

He is survived by his wife, Susie White Edwards of Fairhope, Al.; his son, Emory Asbury Edwards II of Jersey City, N.J.; his sister, Jackie Edwards Plaxico of Stillwater, Ok. And preceded in death by his brother, Gene "Doodle bug" Edwards of Elberton, Ga.

A graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., he received his Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. In 1957, he was ordained a Minister of the Gospel by the Kentyre Presbyterian Church in Hamer, S.C.; the Honea Path Presbyterian Church in Honea Path, S.C.; the Ben Hill Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga. And the Loyd Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, where he was named Pastor Emeritus. Mr. Edwards also served as the Atlanta Presbytery's Area representative with duties as a pastor to pastors; and he served as Program Director of the Presbyterian Churches in Meriwether, Coweta and Troup Counties in Georgia. He retired to Fairhope, Al in 1996.

He was named to serve in various Capacities at all levels of the Presbyterian General Assembly Partners in Small Church Strategy.

Mr. Edwards was elected president of the Presbyterian General Assembly World Mission Chairs Association. He was a member of a missionary fact-finding trip to Brazil and South America for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He was a representative to the National Council of Churches meeting in New Haven, Ct. for the Presbyterian General Assembly.

He served as Moderator for Piedmont and Greater Atlanta Presbyteries and was named Georgia Pastor of the year in 1994.

He was Synod Adult Advisor for the Synod of the Southeast Youth Council and he also served as a Presbyter Advisor for the youth Council of Piedmont and Greater Atlanta Presbyteries.

Mr. Edwards was a member of the Baldwin Senior travelers and served as a member of the Board of Directors, planning and escorting trips. He was also a member of the Mobile Museum of Art, a Friend of the Fairhope Library and a member of the Nature Conservancy and National Historic Trust.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Loyd Presbyterian Church.

The Family will receive friends Friday, December 16, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

In June of 1957, Mr. Edwards was ordained a Minister of the Gospel by the Kentyre Presbyterian Church in Hamer, South Carolina. Kentyre was the first church he pastured. He resigned in 1960. How we did miss him.
