ORANGEBURG - Henry Elmer Black, 83, died Saturday. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2740 Broughton Street, Orangeburg with burial in the Amaker Family Cemetery in the Wolfton Community directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 PM Wednesday at the church before the service.
Survivors include: 1 daughter, Kathy and Steve Chipman; 3 sons, Terry Black and Laurie, Dwayne Black and Catherine, Jim and Melissa Black, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Lewis Otis Black; Willis Valmore Black, James Vernon Black; 1 sister, Dolly Arends.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by the railroad for 44 years, retiring with special recognition. He was a hard worker and great example. He loved animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed talking with people. He loved his family and saw that we had vacations filled with fun. We spent hours visiting relatives and developed a bond of love with them. He was a great husband, father, brother and son. We loved him very much and we will miss him.
