Eva Murriel (Brooks) Wallis, 88, died Saturday, November 2, 2002 in the
home of her son, Joe Wallis, in Sand Springs, with her son and daughter in
attendance Funeral services were held Monday in the First Baptist Church with
Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Burial followed in the Colorado City Cemetery under
the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Eva was born to Joseph Oscar Brooks and Kate Lorena Sawyer Brooks in
Brown County She married Richard S. Wallis, October 5, 1929, who preceded
her in death August 23, 1993, after 64 years of marriage. She gave birth to two
children.

Eva accepted Jesus Christ as a young girl and lived her life accordingly She
was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colorado City.
Eva began a career in nursing in 1948 at Root Memorial Hospital and
obtained her LVN license in 1959 From 1949 until her retirement, she worked as
the pharmacist and nursery attendant and assisted in the delivery of all five of her
grandsons. She retired in 1990 after 42 years service.

Eva is survived by daughter Nina and her husband Bo Merket of Colorado
City; son Joe and his wife Kay Wallis of Sand Springs; five grandsons, Rodney,
Lesley and Craig Merket, and Steven and Brooks Wallis, and one granddaughter,
Kathi Wallis Wilson, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
