Jimmy was swimming with his two nephews, Treeber and Oren, at Brush Creek. Jimmy was to go home that night with his older brother George Thomas, his brothers wife Helen and their daughter Georgia Ruth. George Thomas and family waited and waited. They ended up leaving due to George had to work the next day and it was becoming late. Once home George went up to local store to check any messages from the day away due to they didn't have a phone at home. When he returned he told Helen and Georgia Jimmy had gotten caught in a whirlpool while swimming earlier that day and drowned.
