Age 23, Denise R. Orndorff of Ohiopyle, Pa., Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, died as a result of a bus accident that occurred on a foggy stretch of Interstate 80 in the Poconos. The pileup, which involved four buses, two cars and a pickup truck, occurred just after midnight yesterday at exit 41 near White Haven. Many passengers were asleep at the time of the crash.
She was born Nov. 2, 1976, in Westmoreland County, Greensburg, Pa., daughter of Linda A. (Thompson) Orndorff of Ohiopyle and the late Ross Orndorff, who passed away in June of 1996.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Beth Theroff and husband, Jay of Secane, Pa. and Kris Orndorff, at home; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Orndorff of Ohiopyle; and her maternal grandparents, Harvey and Lois Thompson of Ohiopyle.
Denise attended Chalk Hill United Methodist Church, was a graduate of Uniontown Area High School , Class of 1995 and as a senior Biology major at Penn State University, State College, Pa., where she was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. She was also a member of the Biology Club, where she published the Web page and made a trip to Costa Rica.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Arthur Gotchen officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Chalk Hill.
