NAPPANEE - Joy B. Miller, 84, of 802 S. Elm St., Nappanee, died at 3:15 am Friday, February 10, 2012, at Courtyard Nursing Home, Goshen, where she had been admitted 4 weeks ago. She was born March 21, 1927, in Bourbon, to Arthur and Mae D. Lutes Sechrist. She married Harold Marvin Miller May 13, 1951, in Nappanee. He preceded her in death August 20, 1987. Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Etna Green High School. She was a lifetime resident of this area. Mrs. Miller retired in 1987 after 23 years from the United States Postal Service. She was the first woman hired at the Nappanee Post Office. She also did seamstress work. She attended the Bremen Missionary Church and was a member of the Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary. Joy loved her family and enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Miller is survived by daughters, Sandy (Montel) Tusing of East Germantown, Cookie Peregrine & Patricia (Doug) Clark, both of Etna Green, Kathy (Denis) Snyder of Syracuse and Tracy Lynn (Tim) Miller of Nappanee; a son, Harold Marvin (Christine) Miller II of Camby; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen Jo Altizer; a great-great-granddaughter, Sierra Altizer; and by brothers, Russell, Lamar and Max Sechrist. Family and friends may call Monday from 2-8 at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, where funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Rev. Gary Hinkle, pastor at Bremen Missionary Church, will officiate and burial will be at Stony Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
