JOHN F. RUTH DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
Banker was well-known resident and Active in Church Affairs
John F. Ruth, 74 years old, died Friday at his home, 154 S. Broad St., and was buried Tuesday. Mr. Ruth was long a well-known and prominent resident of Lititz and was prominent in banking circles in Lancaster. He died from complication after a brief illness.
Born April 8, 1854, Mr. Ruth taught school for thirty years in Warwick Township and for the past thirty years had been a director of the Fulton National Bank, Lancaster. He also was vice-president of that institution and for some years had been a member of the board of viewers for the county. He was a well-known conveyancer and had considerable business in the Orphans court.
Mr. Ruth was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and was active in church affairs. He had married twice, the first wife being Catherine P. Lowry, and from that union two sons were born, Samuel M. Ruth, of Rothsville, and John L. Ruth, of Lancaster. His second wife was Ada R. Reigert, of Newmanstown, in Lebanon county. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with interment in the Lutheran Cemetery at Rothsville.
