Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.
Services will be 11 am Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with a one hour visitation prior to service. Interment will follow at Lakewood South.
Mr. Holmes was born in New Hebron, Mississippi on May 31, 1937 to David Marshall Holmes and Loma Marie Dampeer Holmes. He was a Shriner and Mason with the Forest Hill Lodge. Mr. Holmes was owner operator of D. P. Holmes Trucking in Byram and member of Lakeshore Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Dotson Holmes and brother, Billy Marshall Holmes.
Survivors include his sons, David Holmes, Jr. (DeeDee) and Douglas Melvin Holmes; daughters, Tammy Rose Vreeland (Doug) and Terrie Marbury (Curtiss) of Rankin County; sister, Geraldine Dickerson; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
