Bill was a retired office manager from the Cochran Lumber Co. in Arcadia and was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the Army during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 46, a past district commander, and past post commander. He also played a major role in the building of the veterans memorial at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.
Survivors besides his wife include six children, William M. Sutton Jr. and his wife Ingrid, Tipton, Richard D. Sutton and wife Vikki, Sharpsville, Dana S. Sutton and wife Shirley, Kokomo, Larry W. Sutton and wife Lynda, Fort Worth, Texas, Kathie Turner and husband Mel, Tipton, and Mark Sutton and wife Claire, Chicago; 12 grandchildren, Robert Sutton, Sarah Sutton and Jake Argabright, Mary Sutton and Jimmy Ashbaugh, Rebecca Ruf and husband Ben, Scott Sutton and wife Ashley, Jeremy Sutton and wife Carolyn, Jason Sutton, Jennifer Phenicie and husband Matt, Melvin Turner and wife Mary, Cole, Elliot, and Ian Sutton; and nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Tyler, Colby, Noah, Ali, Sophia, Cora, and Ke'ala.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Noreen Ford and Dorothy Dickerson; and two brothers, Leon Sutton and Paul Sutton.
His funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Ward presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with military honors.
