Brother Justus Ernest (Alfred Morneau) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1934 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on May 1, 1983, in Winona, Minnesota, and is buried in Winona in St. Mary Cemetery.

Alfred Joseph Morneau was born on February 19, 1916, the son of and one of six children born to Ernest J. and Agnes M. Paquette Morneau. Alfred was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes, often referred to as "Notre Dame of Minneapolis" and spoke only French until he was five years of age attending the same French-speaking school as his mother in her early childhood. He entered De La Salle High School in September of 1930 and entered the Juniorate at Glencoe on January 31, 1931. Three years later he entered the Novitiate on June 15, 1934, receiving the habit on August 30 and the religious name of Brother Justus Ernest. He entered the Scholasticate at Glencoe in 1935 and completed his studies at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1938 when he received his first teaching assignment at De La Salle High School in Chicago, Illinois. He remained there for eight years until 1946 when he was sent to Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he taught for two years before being transferred to Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1946 he received his MBA from DePaul University but continued graduate work at St. Louis University (1946-1948), Loyola University (1954-1956), and the University of Minnesota for three summers. Brother Justus was appointed Assistant Principal of St. Patrick High School in Chicago in 1953 where he served until 1956. He transferred to St. Mary's College where he remained until 1970 and served as Chairman of the Department of Business Administration (1956-1962) and as Vice President of Business Affairs (1962-1970). He returned from Sangre de Cristo Renewal Center to work in the accounting department at St. Mary's College Press. He remained there teaching part time at the College until 1973 when he became Associate Director of Sangre De Cristo Center. He remained there until 1979 when he returned to St. Mary's Press. He died on May 1, 1983, at the Winona Hospital after a long illness with cancer. He was sixty-seven years old and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for forty-nine years.
