Jacob J Andrae, one of the oldest residents of the city died suddenly this morning at his home, 12 Cayuga Street. Born In Germany in 1848, the deceased has resided in Cohoes since 1867. For many years he conducted a bakery on Factory Street, retiring from business three years ago. He was one of the oldest members of St. Bernard’s Church and had been an active member of the Holy Name Society. Mr Andrae had suffered from a cold for the past ten days but had been about as usual this morning before he was stricken. Dr. A E. Smith was summoned as was also a clergyman. The deceased, had been attended by Dr. Smith about ten days ago when he complained of trouble with his back. This morning he was doing some work in the cellar of his home, when-he became ill. He got to his room, where he later died. Coroner Edward J.Stanton was called and an examination by Coroner’s Physician A. M. Breault, revealed death was due to acute dilation of the heart. The survivors are: One son, Frank A. Andrae; a brother, Paul H. Andrae, and a granddaughter, Miss Mildred Andrae, all of Cohoes. Arrangements for the funeral, whlch will take place from St Bernard’s church, have not yet been completed. Burial will be in Mary's cemetery, Troy.
