Laid to rest as Kittie May Walker

Although her family came from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, her father, Jens Severence Lauritzen, was of Danish ancestry and her mother Dorothea Hanan Lauritzen was born in Sweden.

She immigrated with her mother "Dora", and brothers and sisters, arriving in the United States on 18 September 1873, at the age of three. Her father, Jens Lauritzen, arrived on 9 April 1873. Before living in Nebraska, the family lived in Ohio, where her youngest brother was born (Oct-1875). They subsequently moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in about April 1878 where two years later her father died.

She is listed in the 1880 Grand Island, NE census when she was about 10 yrs of age. She was in Denver, Colorado as early as Feb 1899, moved to Lake City, CO during that same month, and on 7 Dec 1899 she moved to Leadville, CO where she was living at least until 1901. At some point she moved to Cananea, Mexico with her husband (James Archibald Walker), and had two children born in 1909 and 1910. Soon after the birth of her second child she moved into southern Arizona and made a home in the Warren/Lowell area where she died and is buried.

Per her death notice in the Bisbee Ore, she died in the Calumet & Arizona (C.&A.) Hospital. According to a hospital record, she was in the hospital for three weeks and died from septicemia.
