Funeral Services For Mrs. George Miller Are Held

Funeral services for Mrs. George L. Miller were held on Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with the Reverend LeRoy H. Klaus in charge. Two hymns, "Nearer Still Nearer," and "Sweet Peace the Gift of God's Love," were sung by Mrs. E. J. Sweeney and Mrs. Verne Babcock with Mrs. Chester Fox at the organ. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Edward Bierman of Lynd, Minn., Howard Holden, Herbert Miller, and Charles William and Edwin Bickel of Northfield.

Stephanie Miller was born at Graben Baden, Germany on December 24, 1858, the daughter of Christopher and Kathryn Bickel. When 13 years of age she immigrated with her parents and family to the Prairie Creek community southeast of Northfield.

On September 21 1880 she was married to George L. Miller and with him settled on a farm on the Dennison road, moving in 1898 to the farm now operated by her son, Charles. In 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Miller came to live in Northfield where Mr. Miller passed away in March of 1928.

Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Miller has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. P. Patterson in Minneapolis, until seven weeks ago when a fractured bone confined her to the hospital. Here she passed away on May 19.

She is survived by six children, Mrs. Hyland Taylor (Clara) of Minneapolis, George H. Miller and Mrs. George Taylor (Emma) or Northfield, Mrs. H. P. Patterson (Elizabeth) of Minneapolis, and Charles and Frank Miller of Northfield, and one brother, Ferdinand Bickel of this city. There are 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Those from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Hans Patterson, Mrs. Clara Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Taylor and daughter, Phyllis, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor and family, Mrs. C. W. Pettet, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Steller, Miss Elaine Steller, Mr. and Mrs. Weston White, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stevens, and Mrs. Maurice Gray of Minneapolis and Julius Sommers, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Bishman, Mrs. Mary Krassin and Mr. and Mrs. F. Schollejegerdes of Waseca, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bierman, Mrs. Clara Schrunk, Mrs. August Reese and Mrs. Leroy Reese of Lynd, Minn., Mrs. Blakeslee of Mankato, Mrs. Charles Bender of Chaska, and Mrs. William L. Gould, Grand Forks, N. D.

Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. George Miller, and Mrs. Harold Closson served dinner to 25 relatives at the Frank Miller home before the services. After the services the Degree of Honor lodge of which Mrs. Miller was a member, served lunch to about 50 relatives.

Mrs. Miller endeared herself into the hearts of all who knew her, always doing for others. Her crochet hook and knitting needles made many gifts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The will long remember her deeds of kindness.
