Services 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13th, 2012, at First Baptist Church, W4th & Baltimore St. Visitation 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home. Burial later, following cremation at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard J. Heideman Sr., 76, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, February 8, 2012.
Richard Julius Frederick Heideman was born June 8, 1935 in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Henry and Clara Sommerfelt Heideman.
Dick married Dorette Sue Makinster on January 15, 1954 in Waterloo. He attended West High School.
Dick worked at Waterloo Public Schools, John Deere, Assink Sand & Gravel, and highway maintenance for the DOT retiring in 1999.
He served in the US Army Signal Corp from 1958-1963.
Dick is survived by his wife Dorette of Waterloo; son Jeffrey Heideman of Waterloo; daughter Stacey Heideman of Waterloo; son Richard Heideman of Kissimmee, Floriday; grandson Chad Heideman of Waterloo; great-granddaughter Jillian; three sisters: Mary Lou McCalley and her husband Richard of Waterloo, Marie Brock of Sumner, Washington, and Janet Buchan and her husband Vernon of Waterloo; and brother James Heideman and his wife Betty of New Hartford, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
