Mrs. Cora Ellen Taylor Murphy, age 95, of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. Glen Murphy, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Central Continuing Care.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Goodwill, WV, March 6, 1912 to Wade and Maggie Mills Taylor.

She was retired from Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a life long member of the Church Of God.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Juanita and Raymond Puckett of Mt. Airy; and Phyllis Sapp of Winston Salem; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Charlotte Murphy of Greenville, SC; Alta Murphy of High Point; a half sister, Mary Horton of Princeton WV and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by two sons, Ardell and Alvin Murphy and a son-in-law, Richard Sapp.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00, Monday, March 12, 2007 at Skyline Memory Gardens, conducted by Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
