Mrs. Betty Mae Arrington Smith, age 91, of Rural Hall passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 29, 1931, in Surry County to the late John and Zippora Durham Arrington.

Betty was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Stanleyville and retired after many years of service from AT&T.

Mrs. Smith was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews; a host of faithful friends and neighbors; and a special beloved friend of over 75 years, Dorothy McCormick.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harvey E. Smith; three sisters: Lois Arrington Flippin, Vera Arrington Thomas, Allie Arrington O'Neal; three brothers: Burgie Arrington, Roscoe Arrington, and Johnny Arrington.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Skyline Memory Gardens with Dr. Virgil Dwyer, Jr. officiating. No formal visitation will be held.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the friends and staff at Priddy Manor and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and support given to Mrs. Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.

Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
