He was born June 5, 1897, in Monroe, Louisiana, the son of David Andrew and Ovivet (Lanier) Johnston.
He was a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of WWI.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a half-brother, Edward Ball.
Burial is in the National Cemetery at Fayetteville, Arkansas.
