SALISBURY - George Julian Busby, 68, of Salisbury died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his residence. Born Nov. 12, 1942 in Salisbury, he is the son of Dorothy Rudy Busby of Salisbury and the late Dr. George Francis Busby. He was educated in the Salisbury schools, graduating from Boyden High School, Class of 1960, and graduated from the University of Michigan's School of Architecture in Ann Arbor, Mich., in December 1965. Mr. Busby was an Eagle Scout and attended numerous Jamborees and Philmont Scout Ranch. Mr. Busby was an architect and practiced in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., until he retired and returned to Salisbury in December 2003. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, active in the Rufty-Holmes Computer Club and was instrumental in founding the Salisbury Cultural Arts Barbecue Festival. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Robert Busby and wife Bonnie of Salisbury, Dr. Rudy Busby and wife Karen of Salisbury; sister Martha Jane Bailey and husband Rev. Dr. Lynn Bailey of San Jose, Calif.; five nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews. Service: A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 11) in the Chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rhodes Woolly and Rev. David Nelson officiating. Memorials: May be made to Boy Scout Troop 443, c/o St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
