Mr. Allen was born in Habersham County to the late Benjamin Walter Allen and Dema Pardew Allen. He lived most of his life in Hall County. He served his country well during World War II. He was wounded in the Normandy Invasion and received a Purple Heart. He was discharged from the U.S. Army at the end of the war and returned to Gainesville. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1965. He was a member of McEver Road United Methodist Church. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Jackson Allen; brothers, Archie Allen, J.I. "Ike" Allen and Barnette Allen; and sisters, Estelle and Idell Allen.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Nancy Allen, Gainesville; grandson, Tommy Allen; great-grandson, Michael Allen; brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Inez Allen, Gainesville; some very near and dear people, Clarence Barnette, Linda Martin, Rhonda Allen and Jack Cotton; a number of nieces, nephews; and a host of close friends.
