Born in Marblehead, son of the late Charles P. and Amanella (Wheelock) Ball, he was a lifelong resident of this town.
Mr. Ball was a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Optometry and practiced in Marblehead for more than half a century, retiring five years ago.
He was an Army veteran of World War One.
He was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Marblehead, a 50 year member of Philanthropic Lodge, AF & AM, of Marblehead and a 50 year member of American Legion Post No. 32. He also belonged to the Marblehead Historical Society and was a former cooperator of the Marblehead Savings Bank.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Robert P. (Cynthia) Wright of Marblehead; a son, William B. Ball, Jr. of Marblehead; a sister, Mrs. Grace Stevens of Newport, R.I.; a brother, Howard Ball of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
