Joseph Chiaffredo Jr., 89, of Evansville, a former resident of Covington, Indiana, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1922 a son of Joseph and Ruth Vitalie Chiaffredo. He married Mary Ellen Day May 17, 1952 in Danville. She died April 25, 2003. His parents, brother, son and grandson also preceded him in death.

Surviving are a son, Greg (Donna) Chiaffredo of Evansville; a sister, Rosemary Malone of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, John (Pam) Chiaffredo of San Antonio, Texas and three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Meghan and Cassidy.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
