Born Sept. 5,1942, in Elkins, he was the son of the late Floyd Edward and Ocie (Kerens) Armentrout.
Mr. Armentrout was a retired machinist from Mack Truck, Hagerstown. He had been employed from 1965-1995.
Mr. Armentrout was well-known throughout the community. He was also known as "Pappy Heymister," the name his oldest granddaughter, Jen, gave him.
Bring a Pappy is what he loved the most out of life. He was Pappy to so many throughout the community.
Survivors include his children, Don Armentrout Jr. and fiancée Kim Davis, Oldtown, Sherie Olsen and husband Randy, LaVale, Rob Armentrout and wife Jodie, Carpendale, Brian Armentrout and wife Tammy Harrisonville, Mo.; nine grandchildren, D.J. and Garrett Armentrout, Ryan, Jordan and Christian Olsen, Jennifer, twins Brittany and Brett Armentrout, and Danielle Ward; five brothers, Steryl "Sonny" Armentrout and wife Joan, Chesterfield, Va., twin brothers, Leon "Chub" Armentrout and wife Joyce, Apopka, Fla., and Leo Armentrout and wife Pauline, Randallstown, Don's twin brother, Dorrin "Butch" Armentrout and wife Patty, Carpendale, and Richard Armentrout and wife Linda, Keyser; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
