Mr. Therion Martin Hinshaw, 82, of Jefferson City died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at St. Mary's Health Center. He went to be with his Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City with the Rev. Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Mortuary.
Therion was born May 4, 1926, in Boone County, the son of James R. and Nellie Hagans Hinshaw, both deceased. In 1947, he married Jewel "Judy" Frosch. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 6, 2008.
Therion was a World War II veteran with training at Fort Riley, Kan. He was attached to the engineers in Europe, where he served from 1944 until 1946.
In 2002, he received an honorary high school diploma from Ashland High School.
Therion was a charter member of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, where he served as a deacon, adult Sunday school teacher and on various other committees through the years.
He also was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5.
Therion spent 47 years in the grocery business in Mid-Missouri. He began as a Kroger store manager in Centralia and spent many years in Jefferson City with Sav-Mor Markets and Schulte's Fresh Foods. After retirement, he returned to farming, near the home where he was raised outside of Columbia.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; two sons, Randall Hinshaw and his wife, Susan, of Muskegon, Mich., and Kelly Hinshaw and his wife, Wanda, of Rolla; grandchildren Trevor, Lindsay, Jenna and Megan Hinshaw, and Beth and Aaron Achterhoff, all of Muskegon, Jeffery Hinshaw of Rolla, and Staci and Devin Johnson of Liberty.
