Marvin J Sanders, son of Mary L Standley and the late Marvin E. Sanders,was born Dec. 9,1931 in Linn,and departed this life June 20,1985 at the Baptist Hospital in Miami,Fla. at the age of 53 years. He was united in marriage on Nov. 17,1951 at Hardy,Arkansas to Joyce Bidwell. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Sanders of the home in Thayer. Three sons,James W. Sanders of Tinker Air Force Base,Okla. James A Sanders of Temple,Texas, and Dennis E. Sanders of Ft. Hood,Texas; one daughter Brenda Parker of Ft. Lewis,Wash.;his mother, Mary L Sanders of Thayer;four brothers,James M Sanders of Amory,Miss.,Sgt. Eddie R Sanders of Ft. Leonardwood,Michael D Sanders and Ronnie Sanders of Thayer; two sisters,Susan Kopp,Hoxie,Ark.,and Mary Henderson of Rogersville; and 4 grandchildren.
His father,one brother Clifford Sanders,and one grandson preceded him in death.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer.

He was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, having retired as a Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army,Feb 28,1973,after serving over 22 years of Active Service.
Funeral services were held Sun. June 23,1985 at the Carter Funeral Chapel in Thayer with Rev. Ben Meeks officiating. Interment was in Thayer Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
