Mrs. Hazel Neal Brooks Cooley, 80, of Jessamine County, widow of Cecil Cooley, died Monday afternoon, January 30, at the Extend-A-Care Nursing Home in Garrard County, after a long illness. Mrs. Cooley was a native of Jessamine County. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Adams, of Woodford County, Mrs. Willetta Goss and Mrs. Maxine Mulcahy, both of Jessamine County, and Mrs. Carolyn Winchester, of Garrard County; two sons, Walter Cooley, of Nicholasville and Tucker Cooley of Jessamine County; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Teater, Mrs. Elizabeth Teater, and Mrs. Christine Teater, all of Jessamine County; two brothers, Gilbert Brooks and Rev. Roland Brooks, both of Jessamine County and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Betts and West Funeral Home by Rev. Henry White. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon and night. Jessamine Journal issue of Feb. 9, 1984.
