From Clinton Republican
Emery Combs, a former prominent farmer of Helt Township, died at his home in Johnsonville, IL, yesterday. The remains will arrive in Clinton on the 4:47 o'clock train this evening, and will be taken to the home of E.P. Conley on Elm Street. The funeral services will be conducted at the Conley home by Rev. Mathews at 10 o'clock sharp. Friends are invited.

Mr. Combs was well known and highly esteemed in this community and throughout the county. He moved from Helt Township to Illinois about 3 years ago, where he continued as a farmer. He had been in poor health for a time, but was able to go about, and his condition was not regarded as serious. Further than mere announcement of his death yesterday evening, no particulars have been received. He has quite a number of relatives here and in Helt Township, and his death will be generally regretted.

Emery Combs, whose remains were brought to this city, Thursday, was born in Helt Township, May 18, 1848. He enlisted in 1860 and served until the close of the war. He died at Johnsonville, IL, November 7, 1900 of heart disease, leaving a wife and 6 children, several of whom are small.
