He married Martha Carlisle on 2 November 1940 at Cass County, Texas.

A former resident of Burkburnett and Electra, Sage moved to Graham in 1981 from MIdland. He was a member of the FIrst Baptist Church were he was an adult Sunday School teacher. He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church.

Sage served in the US Navy during World War II.

Survived by his wife; two sons - Wayne and Dan Sage; one daughter - Jane Stevens; three sisters - Mrs. Robert "Thelma" Harty; Mr.s Alton "Voncile" Tidwell; Mrs. J.D. "Faye" Griffis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
