"GEORGE M. ALLEN - George M. Allen, aged 73, of Worcester, died Tuesday, November 1, in Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. He was born January 9, 1887, in Roseboom, the son of George H. and Helen E. (Mitchell) Allen. He married Ethel McClintock on October 21, 1909, at Westford. She died in 1932. He later married Susan Mann on February 27, 1943, in Oneonta. Mr. Allen was a postmaster in Worcester for 21 years before retiring. Previously he had been superintendent of Borden's Milk Plant in Worcester. He had been a resident of Worcester for 51 years. He was a member of the Worcester Methodist Church and the official board of the church. He was also a member of the Schenevus Valley Masonic Lodge and of the Postmasters' Association. He had been president of the Maple Grove Cemetery Association of Worcester and a committeeman of the Worcester Democratic party. Surviving are his wife and four sons, Earl of Binghamton, Steward of Millerton, Pa., Gerald of Schenevus, and Ernest, at home; nine grandchildren; a nephew and several cousins. Private funeral services were held at 2 p. m., Saturday, November 5, at his home, with the Rev. Lynn Brown, pastor of the Mill City Methodist Church, Pa., and the Rev. William Quick, pastor of the Worcester Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester."
