Joseph Lynn Arnold, 88, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2015.

He was born in Ogden on November 1, 1926 to Melvin Earl and Amanda Ingram Arnold. Upon graduation from Provo High School in 1944, he enlisted in the Navy. Proudly serving aboard a minesweeper during WWII, he was discharged in October 1947.

He married Edna Chiles in 1948 whom he had met four years earlier when she came from Iowa to visit her brother Austin in Provo. They had a wonderful life together raising a daughter and two sons.

He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone for thirty-six years. Going from hand setting poles between Price and Green River to District Plant Manager, he retired in 1982.

He loved to camp in remote places in his younger years, he read voraciously, and enjoyed watching sports. They enjoyed their many trips all across the U.S. and traveling throughout Europe. His sense of humor will be truly missed by many who knew him.

He is survived by Edna, his wife of sixty-seven years; daughter, Gayle A. Moffett (James), of San Antonio, Texas; son, Ralph Arnold (Donna), of Salt Lake City; daughter-in-law, Marie Arnold, of Canton, Georgia; four grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, three brothers, and his son, Joseph L. Arnold, Jr.

We want to thank Dr. Gregory Litton and the staff at Utah Cancer Specialist, Dr. Andrew Fedoravicius, and the staff at Quality Service Hospice for their loving care.

Family graveside services and military honors will be held at a later date in the Provo City Cemetery.
