Funeral services for Walter Briggs, former district attorney of Schenectady county, who died at his home, 1071 Wendell avenue, Thursday night, will be held Monday at the convenience of the family, with burial at Grove cemetery, Quaker street.

Mr. Briggs was associated with a number of business and fraternal organizations and was a member of the New York National Guard for more than 25 years. He served for nine successive years as district attorney, beginning January 1, 1901, and was one of the organizers of the Schenectady Building and Loan Association in 1899. For a number of years he was treasurer of this organization and served as its counsel until his death.

Born In Duanesburg, March 14, 1857, Mr. Briggs attended the district school there, later studying at the Quaker Street Literary Institute. He moved to Schenectady at the age of 22 to study law with the late Samuel W. Jackson and at the same time serve as principal of the Scotia school. He was admitted to the bar In this city in 1882, Mr, Briggs was a member of the St George's Lodge-No. 6, F. and A.M.; Champion Lodge, No. 554, I. O. O. F,; Mohawk Encampment, 223, 1. O. O. F., and Schaugh-naugh-tada Tribe, 123, Red Men.
